This is one of the assignments I did for “The Culture of Journalism” at Brandeis University by Professor Ann Silvio during Fall 2021. We were to pick one issue and conduct interviews on it. It was a few months after China announced its “double reduction” policy, putting a stop to the expansion of fee-based extracurricular tutoring services. I happened to be living next to a business district where several offices of such services are located, and decided to investigate how these employers and their workers responded to the sudden regulatory hurdle.
